Geography

Ellikon an der Thur has an area of 5 km2. Of this area, 69.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 19.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 10.4% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0.6%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). housing and buildings made up 5.9% of the total area, while transportation infrastructure made up the rest (4.3%). In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 53.1% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (10.8%), the CSP (10.4%) and the FDP (8.4%).
