Belwood is a town in Cleveland County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 950 at the 2010 census.
History
Belwood was incorporated in 1978. The name of the town means "beautiful woods."
Geography
Belwood is located in northeastern Cleveland County. The northeast border of the town follows the county line, with Lincoln County to the east.
North Carolina Highway 18 (Fallston Road) passes through the town, leading south 14 mi to Shelby, the county seat, and north 25 mi to Morganton.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Belwood has a total area of 31.9 km2, of which 0.02 km2, or 0.05%, is water.

As of the 2020 United States census, there were 857 people, 349 households, and 251 families residing in the town.
2000 census
As of the census of 2000, there were 962 people, 373 households, and 280 families residing in the town. The population density was 78.2 PD/sqmi. There were 410 housing units at an average density of 33.3 /sqmi. The racial makeup of the town was 95.22% White, 3.85% African American, 0.10% Asian, 0.21% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.98% of the population.
There were 373 households, out of which 36.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.9% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 2.97.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 27.8% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
