Vacant (Mar.–Apr.) Rhett Warrener The 2002–03 Buffalo Sabres season was the 33rd season of operation for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on May 22, 1970. The Sabres failed to qualify for the playoffs for a second consecutive season. The 72 points accumulated in the regular season was the lowest total for the franchise since the 1986–87 season.
