In their 11th season under head coach Spike Dykes, the Red Raiders compiled a 6–5 record (5–3 against Big 12 opponents), finished in a tie for second place in Southern Division of the Big 12, and outscored opponents by a combined total of 245 to 217. The team played its home games at Clifford B. and Audrey Jones Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.
