The 1949 Nova Scotia general election was held on 9 June 1949 to elect members of the 44th House of Assembly of the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. It was won by the Liberal party. The Progressive Conservatives returned to the legislature after their wipeout in the 1945 general election, but their eight seats put them in a distant second place to the Liberals' 37.

- In the riding of Hants West, Progressive Conservative [[George Henry Wilson]]'s 3-vote lead on election night, became a tie after a judicial recount. The Returning Officer then cast the deciding vote for the Liberal's [[George B. Cole]]. After an appeal, a judge then decided to throw out the results of the general election; a by-election was held several months later to fill the seat and was won by Wilson.
