The Golden Prizes were awarded to the Italian-French film Christ Stopped at Eboli directed by Francesco Rosi, the Spanish film Siete días de enero directed by Juan Antonio Bardem and the Polish film Camera Buff directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski.
