The 2007–08 season was the 102th season in Atlético Madrid's history and their 71rd season in La Liga, the top division of Spanish football. It covers a period from 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008. In the wake of captain Fernando Torres departing for Liverpool, Atlético responded with the signings of Diego Forlán, Thiago Motta, Simão and José Antonio Reyes, aimed at propelling the club to the top. Atlético managed to take the final spot for the Champions League, finishing only three points behind Barcelona in third.
