Steinerberg has an area, , of 6.9 km2. Of this area, 62.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 31.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 5.2% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0.3%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).
