PurVIEW is an integrated image display and stereoscopic viewing plug-in software package for ESRI ArcGIS 9.x. It functions as a photogrammetry-based data capture workstation that extends the ArcGIS environment by enabling stereo viewing of geo-referenced aerial or satellite imagery.
Using ArcMap, geodatabase contents can be viewed superimposed on 3D stereo imagery, enabling users to identify geographic features, map updates, or terrain changes with high positional accuracy. Digitizing features within the stereo environment can yield results comparable to traditional photogrammetric mapping.
Originally developed by International Systemap Corporation in collaboration with ESRI, PurVIEW has been applied in fields such as mapping, geomatics, geology, forestry, and mining.
