In provincial politics, Kipling is in the constituency of Moosomin. The town was named after the English author Rudyard Kipling who passed through the town on 4 October 1907. Kipling is accessed from Highway 48.

History

Kipling sites classed as "heritage properties" include the former CN station, built in 1908–09, and the Kingsley rural municipality office, built in 1919. In addition, a major and highly interesting group of pioneer-era buildings can be viewed on the spacious sites belonging to the Kipling and District Historical Society Museum. In 2006, Canadian blogger Kyle MacDonald successfully parlayed one red paperclip via a series of trades into a house in Kipling. The town commemorates the story with the Guinness World Record certified World's Largest Paper Clip, 15 feet tall and weighing 3,043 pounds.

Demographics

In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Kipling had a population of living in of its total private dwellings, a change of from its 2016 population of . With a land area of 2.55 km2, it had a population density of in 2021.

Government

Kipling is within the provincial constituency of Moosomin, and is represented in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan by Steven Bonk of the Saskatchewan Party.

Federally, Kipling is in the riding of Souris—Moose Mountain, and is represented in the 42nd Parliament by Robert Kitchen, of the Conservative Party of Canada.
