Early life and career

In 1992 at the age of 28, he started record company Hype records, and has served as the executive director since.

Known to be brutally honest and direct with his comments, he is noted for being extremely particular on the delivery of his task.

During the first Asian Idol competition in Jakarta, Ken predicted the unlikely victory of Hady Mirza while the other judges were praising other contestants to win. On another occasion, during the audition rounds of the third season of Singapore Idol, he accurately foretold that one of the contestants, Sylvia, would be amongst the top 10 out of the thousands of participants that auditioned.

Since 2010, Lim has been involved in communications and branding for many corporations and public campaigns. Projects were in the likes of Pioneer Generation, Skillfuture, Committee for Future Economy, Lee Kuan Yew Bilingual Fund, Passion Made Possible, etc.

Controversy

Sexual Offences

In 2024, he was acquitted of insulting a woman’s modesty in an incident which happened in 2012.

Ken was sentenced by the Singapore court to 13 months' jail on 18 Nov 2025 for molesting a 25-year old woman in 2021 during an interview. The incident happened at the Hype Records office in Henderson Road on Nov 23, 2021, where Lim was the executive director of the record company.

Personal life

Ken is married to Judy Hsu, a Taiwanese-Canadian and Singaporean PR who is currently the CEO of Wealth and Retail Banking at Standard Chartered bank.She was formerly a singer known as Hsu Zhong Wei (徐仲薇). They have two boys.
