Its seat is the town of Drobin, which lies approximately 29 km north-east of Płock and 90 km north-west of Warsaw.
The gmina covers an area of 143.19 km2, and as of 2006 its total population is 8,531 (out of which the population of Drobin amounts to 2,980, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 5,551).
